Introducing Hunter Douglas Alta Wood Blinds with decorative tapes covering the route holes and stings

Why choose wood blinds for your home?

Wood blinds are the perfect choice for many rooms and styles. Here’s why:

  • High quality basswood is durable and gorgeous.
  • These classic blinds are a superb choice to give your room a sophisticated look without the cost of wood shutters.

What kind of features are available with wood window blinds?

Custom window coverings can be upgraded in more ways than just color and style. Here are just a few options that are available with wood blinds:

  • Cordless Lift: This popular option provides a hidden control system that eliminates the lift cord on your wood blinds and enables the blinds to be easily raised or lowered with the touch of a finger.
  • Routeless: Want less light? With routeless blinds, your wood blinds would not have visible holes for the cord to pass through, meaning more privacy and less light leakage.
  • Rounded Corners: This small upgrade available on some wood blinds changes the cut of the slats, giving it a designer style.
  • Continuous Cord Loop Controls: This option means the cords on your wood blinds will be secured to wall or window frame, meaning your blinds will have fewer cords on display. A great choice for larger/heavier blinds.
  • Cloth Tapes: Choose from different styles of fabric to add class to your wood blinds. This decorative and stylish upgrade also covers route holes, increases privacy and decreases light leakage.
  • Valance/Cornice Options: Choose to fully accent your windows with lovely and stylish topper options.

roman shades Atlanta discount blinds

Roman Shades

Roman Shades from Atlanta Discount Blinds

Roman shades are a type of window covering used to block out the sun. Roman shades are different from standard window shade in that they stack up evenly when being opened; however, when they are open they are visibly smooth, not bumpy or ribbed like typical vertical shades or blinds

Roman shades can be opened with a cord mechanism or can use a cordless mechanism. Each mechanism allows the user to adjust the height of the covered area. In typical construction, cords run vertically on the outer side of the blind running through evenly spaced horizontal stiffener rods or eyelets on the back of the shade and then attached at the bottom of the blind. In this case, the opened portion of the blinds remains smooth, while the bottom will be stacked evenly. These shades can also be made with top-down-bottom-up mechanisms which allow only the top of the shade to come down; allowing for privacy yet still letting in natural light from the top of the window.

Styles[edit]

These shades are available in a variety of styles. Both “looped” and “classic” They are designed to create depth and dimension. Looped shades, also known as “hobbled” shades, have folds that cascade down the face of the shade to help create depth, while “classic” roman shades offer a pleated design that can be batten front or batten back. Roman shades are also available in a seamless style, which feature a smooth or flat shade face, also called “waterfall” style.

Shutter Blinds

window shutter is a solid and stable window covering usually consisting of a frame of vertical stiles and horizontal rails (top, centre and bottom). Set within this frame can be louvers (both operable or fixed, horizontal or vertical), solid panels, fabric, glass and almost any other item that can be mounted within a frame. Shutters may be employed for a variety of reasons, including controlling the amount of sunlight that enters a room, to provide privacy, security, to protect against weather or unwanted intrusion or damage and to enhance the aesthetics of a building.

Depending on the application, and the construction of the window frame, shutters can be mounted to fit within the opening or to overlap the opening. The term window shutter includes both interior shutters, used on the inside of a house or building, and exterior shutters, used on the outside of a structure. On some styles of buildings it is common to have shutters to cover the doors as well as the windows.[1]

Interior shutters[edit]

Modern interior wooden window shutters

Interior shutters are typically divided into narrow units hinged accordion-style so that two or more units cover each side of a window opening when closed. Operable louvered shutters have louvers (or louvres in British usage), or slats, controlled by a tilt bar or rod to adjust the louver position and keep them in a uniform position, to control light, visibility and airflow. Shutters with operable louvers are described variously as traditional shutters, California shutters, or plantation shutters. Plantation shutters, typical of warmer climates like Florida, South Africa, the Mediterranean or Australia, typically have only two shutters per window and wide louver blades.

Other interior shutters use stationary louvers that do not rotate (fixed louvers); solid raised or flat panels; fabric inserts; or tinted glass. Shutters can be configured in a single tier unit that has one shutter top to bottom of a window opening as well as multiple tiers. Multiple tier units feature separate shutters on each tier which allows the top shutters to be opened independently from the bottom shutters. Café-type shutters refer to shutters that only cover the lower portion of a window.

Full height shutters can be made with a horizontal divider rail which separates the upper and lower portions of the shutter. With operable louvered shutters this gives greater control as the louvers above the divider rail can be operated independently from the louvers below the divider rail. Interior shutters can be constructed from numerous woods, which can be painted or stained, and a variety of synthetic materials. Interior shutters that are made to close tolerances are preferable for the best possible fit. When louvers or tilt bar (rod) become damaged, replacement kits for these damaged parts may be ordered online and are easy to install.

In the UK, most interior shutters historically were paneled.

window blind is a type of window covering.[1] There are many different kinds of window blinds which use a variety of control systems. A typical window blind is made up of several long horizontal (or vertical) slats of various types of hard material, including wood, plastic or metal which are held together by cords that run through the blind slats. Vertical blinds run along a track system which can tilt open and closed and move side-to-side. Window blinds can be maneuvered with either a manual or remote control by rotating them from an open position, with slats spaced out, to a closed position where slats overlap and block out most of the light. There are also several types of window coverings, called shades, that use a single piece of soft material instead of slats.

The term window blinds can also be used to describe window coverings generically—in this context window blinds include almost every type of window covering, whether it is a hard or soft material; i.e. shutters, roller shades, cellular shades (also called honeycomb shades), wood blinds (also called 2 inch horizontals), Roman shades and standard vertical and horizontal blinds (also called Venetians). In the United Kingdomawnings are sometimes called blinds or shades.

DUAL Roller SHADES?

  • Dual Roller Shades
  • Translucent and light-dimming fabrics are blended with a sheer or mesh fabric, providing varying opacity levels depending on fabric choice.
  • When aligned, solid bands ensure privacy; when shifted, the sheer bands allow natural light and diffused views.
  • Innovative, fully enclosed bottomrail allows fabric to slide through smoothly for effortless operation and alignment.
  • Shade disappears inside the headrail when raised for a full outdoor view.

privacy & a view

Line up the opaque bands of fabric and you have a view to the outdoors, but the sun has a filter to the indoors, protecting your furnishings. Alternate the bands and your privacy is, well, private.

How to Measure for Blinds Atlanta Discount Blinds

Tips to getting started

  • Use a steel tape measure for accuracy, and provide all measurements to the nearest 1/8″
  • Determine if your window has sufficient depth to install as an Inside Mount
  • Always measure width (left to right) first and height (top to bottom) second

Determine Inside or Outside Mount

  • Inside mount faux wood blinds will fit inside the window opening (Recommended)
  • Outside mount faux wood blinds will cover beyond your window opening in width and height
    • Minimizes light gaps for more privacy and light control
    • Recommended for out of square windows or windows with minimal depth

Measure for Inside Mount

Measure for Inside Mount - Width
  • Start measurement at the depth where your brackets will be installed
  • Measure width at the top, middle, and bottom of opening edge to edge
  • Record narrowest measurement of the 3 to the nearest 1/8″
Measure for Inside Mount - Height
  • Start height in 3 places left, middle and right edge to edge
  • Record tallest measurement of the 3 to the nearest 1/8″

**Inside Mount Blinds will have a small deduction taken by the factory to fit inside the opening**

Measure for Outside Mount

Measure for Outside Mount - Width
  • Measure the width of the area you want to cover (1 ½” overlap on each side recommended)
  • Record measurement
Measure for Outside Mount - Height
  • Determine where you want the top of your blind to be positioned and mark the spot
  • Measure height to be covered from the top of marked headrail position to top of sill. If no sill exist, measure below the opening to your desired length
  • Record measurement

**Outside Mount Blinds will be made to your exact measurement**

https://www.atlantadiscountblinds.com/contact-us/The selections of colors were far better than other companies that I spoke to and the service was great. During this trying time Mark came out and installed the shades in the house in about 15 minutes. Thank you so much David

I almost always get three estimates when considering a large project (expense) but my second estimate, with Dave, was my second and my last. Dave was easy to talk to on the phone and we scheduled a visit that worked for us. He brought tons of samples and explained the difference between them, offering suggestions without being pushy. He measured all of our windows, 23 in all plus a door, while we poured over the many samples. We decided on which shades we liked and he gave us an estimate right on the spot. With the previous estimate, I waited two days to get it via email and was then very disappointed. We agreed on a price with Dave and two weeks later, Mark, the installation professional, arrived on time and had the shades up, all 23 windows and 1 door, in under two hours. He did an excellent job, moved the furniture that needed to be moved, put it all back exactly as it was and he cleaned up everything. We could not be happier with the entire process, start to finish. The price was extremely reasonable and the product was perfect for our needs. Thank you Dave and Mark. We have no windows left to do, but if we did, we would most certainly have Atlanta Discount Blinds again!! Thank you!

Dave and Mark did a great job from start to finish. Dave came by the house with so many options for my new townhouse windows. I chose the dual shades in white for a softer, modern and minimal look. Mark installed the shades (and blinds for my terrace) very quickly and impeccably. He gave me a tutorial on how to use the powerwand (worth every penny)! I love my new custom shades and blinds. Highly recommend Dave and Mark. Awesome team, professional and great value. Thank you!

We are very pleased with the work done to install our honeycomb blinds! Before contacting Atlanta Discount Blinds we got estimates from a couple of other places and Atlanta Discount Blinds beat them out by a lot. We will definitely contact them for any future work for window treatments. Thank you!

Thanks Dave and Atlanta Discount Blinds. We love our new shades!  They are beautiful, functional, and let just enough light in.  Thank you for your awesome customer service.

I have used this company twice and have been satisfied with their work. Dave is helpful and knowledgeable and the installation process is fast and efficient.

From the quote to the install everything was handled with professionalism. The blinds are beautiful and for a beautiful price 🙂 Thanks Dave and team!

Dave came to our home on time and was a wonderful help to us as we tried to get some window treatments for our new custom home in Sandy Springs. I was so happy to have such a personable, friendly experience. He did a great job measuring the windows and offering us lots of elegant options for the windows. I will definitely use him again.
