We are very happy to give local small businesses our support. Atlanta Discount Blinds was recommended to us and we are quite pleased. There are plenty of choices for shades. Dave is helpful and honest in helping with decision making. His installer, Mark, is a professional and the whole process from beginning to end only took about 3 weeks. We would definitely recommend them for any of your window covering needs.
Atlanta Discount Blinds offer Dual Shades in a large variety of fabrics and colors. Also known as Zebra Shades, they offer a luxurious contemporary look. With their alternating bands of Opaque and Semi-Opaque strips, they give you light and privacy when you need it. So you can have light filtering and room darkening looks.
They operate like a Roller Shade with a Cassette headrail and a bottom rail that allows the fabric to rotate through opening and closing the bands. Zebra Shades are a very modern alternative to a horizontal blind.Zebra Shades are Roller shades that allow you to transition between sheer and privacy. The blinds can be adjusted so that the 3″ zebra stripes line up-offering privacy, light control, and insulation. Adjust the blinds slightly, aligning the 2″ sheer fabric section to allow incoming daylight. They can be a great addition to a bedroom or living room.
These shades can allow you to adjust the natural light levels by simply pulling the chain. Unlike Roller Shades they can be cracked slightly only allowing very little light into the room. They are a great addition to a living room window to give a spin on a regular Roller Shade or Horizontal Blind.
2 years ago I had a wonderful experience with Atlanta Discount Blinds. Dave was so easy to work with. He came out once to measure (some companies have to come out twice and I didn’t want to deal with that) and everything was perfect. The installation WAS SO FAST!!!! Seriously!!! 35 blinds installed perfectly in 2 hours. I am so happy and highly recommend!!!

A window shutter is a solid and stable window covering usually consisting of a frame of vertical stiles and horizontal rails (top, centre and bottom). Set within this frame can be louvers (both operable or fixed, horizontal or vertical), solid panels, fabric, glass and almost any other item that can be mounted within a frame. Shutters may be employed for a variety of reasons, including controlling the amount of sunlight that enters a room, to provide privacy, security, to protect against weather or unwanted intrusion or damage and to enhance the aesthetics of a building.
Depending on the application, and the construction of the window frame, shutters can be mounted to fit within the opening or to overlap the opening. The term window shutter includes both interior shutters, used on the inside of a house or building, and exterior shutters, used on the outside of a structure. On some styles of buildings it is common to have shutters to cover the doors as well as the windows.
Interior shutters are typically divided into narrow units hinged accordion-style so that two or more units cover each side of a window opening when closed. Operable louvered shutters have louvers (or louvres in British usage), or slats, controlled by a tilt bar or rod to adjust the louver position and keep them in a uniform position, to control light, visibility and airflow. Shutters with operable louvers are described variously as traditional shutters, California shutters, or plantation shutters. Plantation shutters, typical of warmer climates like Florida, South Africa, the Mediterranean or Australia, typically have only two shutters per window and wide louver blades.
Other interior shutters use stationary louvers that do not rotate (fixed louvers); solid raised or flat panels; fabric inserts; or tinted glass. Shutters can be configured in a single tier unit that has one shutter top to bottom of a window opening as well as multiple tiers. Multiple tier units feature separate shutters on each tier which allows the top shutters to be opened independently from the bottom shutters. Café-type shutters refer to shutters that only cover the lower portion of a window.
Full height shutters can be made with a horizontal divider rail which separates the upper and lower portions of the shutter. With operable louvered shutters this gives greater control as the louvers above the divider rail can be operated independently from the louvers below the divider rail. Interior shutters can be constructed from numerous woods, which can be painted or stained, and a variety of synthetic materials. Interior shutters that are made to close tolerances are preferable for the best possible fit. When louvers or tilt bar (rod) become damaged, replacement kits for these damaged parts may be ordered online and are easy to install.
In the UK, most interior shutters historically were paneled.
Beautiful Shades and Blinds WRITTEN BY MAGGIE ROSS ON JANUARY 22, 2020. Review for Alta Dual Shades Dave and Mark did a great job from start to finish. Dave came by the house with so many options for my new townhouse windows. I chose the dual shades in white for a softer, modern and minimal look. Mark installed the shades (and blinds for my terrace) very quickly and impeccably. He gave me a tutorial on how to use the powerwand (worth every penny)! I love my new custom shades and blinds. Highly recommend Dave and Mark. Awesome team, professional and great value. Thank you!
Atlanta Discount Blinds sells Hand crafted custom fabric shades available in over 350 fabric choices and include quality features like standard lining from Horizons Window Fashions award winning workroom.
This version of a traditional flat Roman shade has concealed support rods at every pleat to fold neater and lie flatter than other flat shades. Classic Roman shades work well with most fabrics. This shade style is highly recommended for fabrics with a pattern.
This soft flowing shade lies flat when lowered but always has a gentle decorative “smile” at the bottom. Relaxed Roman shades work well with most fabrics.
Ribbed Pleat Shade
The Ribbed Pleat shade is a reversed Knife Pleat with the pockets to the front of the shade to further accent each pleat. Ribbed Pleat shades work best with solid or textured fabrics. Not recommended for fabrics with a pattern that will be interrupted by the pleats.
Fuller in body, this style keeps its soft folds even when lowered. Support rods are concealed in the pockets at the back of each fold. Hobbled Roman shades work best with solid or textured fabrics. Not recommended for fabrics with a pattern that will be interrupted by the folds.
Pleated London Shade
The Pleated London Shade has decorative inverted pleats approximately 6-8” in from each side. Pleated London shades work best with solid or textured fabrics. Not recommended for fabrics with a pattern that will be interrupted by the folds.
Knife Pleat Shade
Doweled pockets on the back of the shade hold support rods and form decorative seams on the front of the shade. Knife Pleat shades work best with solid or textured fabrics. Not recommended for fabrics with a pattern that will be interrupted by the pleats.
Cordless ONE Controls™

Edge Accents Banding
A 2-1/2″ wide band of contrasting fabric may be added to give your shade that added pizzazz.
In addition to our over 350 standard fabrics, Horizons will also craft Horizons shades from your customer’s own material.
Inset Edge Accents Banding
Similar to our standard banding, Inset Edge Accents are set in 2-1/2″ from the edge of the shade.
Multiple Shades on one Headrail
Two-on-Ones & Three-on-Ones are multiple shades mounted on a single headrail.
A turned headrail is a no charge option that reduces the mounting depth and projection of the shade.
Hold Down Brackets
Hold down brackets are used to secure the bottom of the shades. They are usually used when mounting on a door.
For that finishing touch, fringe, gimp, beads and tassel trimmings are available as an eye catching accent for your shade.
The Classic, Relaxed, Hobbled and London shades are available in sheer materials.
With duo-fold controls the shade may be raised from the bottom or lowered from the top.
The Classic Valance
The Classic Valance option allows the shade’s controls to be neatly placed on the front of the shade for easy operation.
